Options to Get Users to the Inventory

Infographics to Show Functions of Coupon Manager and Dashboard

If you're training with the online version of Style Matters there's a key question in getting started: How to get your learners to the inventory?

Self-payment by user.  If you intend for your learners to purchase their own access to Style Matters Online, simply give them this link to the online version for Individual Users. Ask them to purchase the inventory (if you are a teacher, contact us for a coupon code to bring their price down to $14), take it at their leisure, print out a copy of the score report, and bring it to your training session.   If no group training session is planned, they can use the online tutorial.

Pre-payment by trainer.  If you want to give users pre-paid access to Style Matters, use either Dashboard or Coupon Access.  See brief descriptions of these below.  These provide the inventory at a significantly reduced per-user price.  Both make it easy to work with any number of users and to monitor who has taken the inventory.   Both also allow the trainer to receive a copy of all score reports via autoforward if desired.  Cost is so close between these two options that it is not a relevant factor in making a decision.  However, the minimum purchase for coupons is 3 users whereas for the dashboard it is 10.

To order Coupon Access. Choose Coupons if your priority is quick and easy setup.   See the first infographic below for details.  You send out an email from your email browser with instructions and the access code to your users.  Users take it from there and show up in your workshop with score report in hand.  Your only time requirement as trainer in getting your users to the inventory is editing the email text you send them them.  (We provide a suggested text with full instructions.) You can monitor use through an online tracker that shows who and how many have taken the inventory.

To order Dashboard.  Choose Dashboard if your priority is ability to manage user experience.    See the second infographic below for a depiction of the dashboard. You can see all your users on the dashboard and delay delivery of the score report to users, view score reports, print, and email them; monitor who has taken and not taken the inventory, send reminder notes with a single click, create aggregated score reports for a group, etc.  The Dashboard emails users a link with their login info encrypted into it, so they land in the inventory with a single click of the link in their email, without having to login.   Whereas Coupon Code access takes users 10-20 seconds, login for your dashboard users is instantaneous.

Unlike the Coupon Manager, the Dashboard requires you to input user names and emails into the dashboard (manually one at a time or in bulk via file upload).   Expect to invest 20-30 seconds per user in setting up and managing the dashboard.
Order Dashboard for $99 for first 10 users and $10-$12 per additional user, depending on number.

Overview of Process for Using Coupon Codes

Suggested Text to Send to Users

After you purchase Coupon Access as a trainer, you will receive an email with your access code and detailed instructions for forwarding it to users. This email includes a suggested text to send to your users and your own unique code is already inserted in the text. The suggested text reads as follows:

In preparation for the training I've made arrangements for you to take the Style Matters conflict style inventory as a pre-paid user.

1. Go to www.RiverhouseEpress.com

2. Enter your name, email, password of your choice, and the access code, which is: XXXXYYYY. The code is not case specific. You can type it by hand or copy and paste it from this email to the login. Then click Register. You will land on the first page of the inventory.

3. "Welcome to Style Matters" displays in middle of your screen. You're there! Just follow instructions from there.

It takes about 15 minutes to take the inventory. If you have difficulty with the website please try another browser. The Riverhouse server usually gets along well with Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer 11, and Safari but not so well with Internet Explorer 7 (IE7 2007).

Please print out a copy of your personal score report and bring it to our session.

If you need technical assistance, contact Riverhouse ePress at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or (717) 456-0441.

Who Should Receive Score Reports?

If you are logged in, you can easily change who gets score reports here.

By default setting, when a user takes Style Matters, their score report is emailed to the user and a copy is sent to the purchaser.  All of these settings can be changed:

  • Users can be blocked from receiving their score report.  (Some trainers prefer to deliver the score report to their users.)
  • The purchaser can be blocked from receiving score reports.
  • An email address other than or in addition to the purchaser's can be designated to receive score reports.

If you are the purchaser, it is important for you to think through appropriate handling of score reports and makes settings accordingly.

In academia and some community settings, it is common practice for instructors to receive copies of score reports.   However, in employment situations, it may be sensitive for anyone other than the end user to receive a copy of the report.

Please review your situation and take responsibility to let us know if you would like any changes to the existing settings. If we don't hear from you the defaults will prevail: You and users will receive an emailed copy of score reports.

To View Log of Coupon Use

After logging in, scroll to the bottom of the page to the Coupon Manager.  This shows who has used your access codes and tracks how many uses you have left.  As trainer, you will automatically receive a copy of the score report whenever someone uses your coupon.   To change this setting or to autoforward score reports to a different address, click the link below.

User Management for Style Matters Trainers

Manage many users in minimum time

With Style Matters you can easily manage groups of any size with minimal demands on your time as trainer.
Some trainers - for example, some university profs - simply tell users to go here on our site, purchase Style Matters, and take it.

But many trainers prefer to pre-pay for their users.
We've created two paths for this, each with different priorities.

Coupon Code Access.

To use Coupon Code Access, trainers buy, say 10 user rights in our shopping cart.  Trainers immediately receive an access code by return email.

Trainers send an email to users with the access code and instructions to take the inventory.  See sample email here.

Following those instructions, users go to the front page of our site and use a special simplified login form (see it there yourself at any time) to login.

CouponCodeAccess

Then they are transferred straight to the inventory.

Should a Trainers Use Access Code or Dashboard? An advantage of the Coupon Access over the Dashboard is quick setup.  You just buy the access code and email it with instructions to users. Your users register themselves at time of taking the inventory, whereas the Dashboard requires you to register your users on your Dashboard to manage them.   You can do that manually, one by one, or by uploading user info to our server in one file, but either way, there's an investment of perhaps one minute per user to set up your dashboard.

disadvantage of the Access Code in comparison to the Dashboard is that it offers less ability to control and track use of the inventory.   It is true that with Access Code use, we can email you a report upon request of exactly who has used your coupon and when.  But you will not have all the capabilities of the Dashboard which include: ability to control the timing of when users receive their score report (some trainers want to delay that until the trainer is present), ability to view all reports yourself, a log of your interaction with each user, and easy aggregation of scores.
